The QUEEN and MOOSE images are Pachter’s best known explorations of Canada’s evolving national identity.
When these paintings were first exhibited in1973, they caused some consternation in the Canadian art world.

Today they are regarded affectionately as pop art icons of a post-colonial society in transition.
